Hanoi [Vietnam], June 18: itting on the judging panel of 'Listen to Me Sing', renowned singer Thai Chau emotionally recalled memories with the late composer Lam Phuong while listening to the song 'Tears of Sorrow'.
Episode 7 of "Listen to Me Sing" airs with a competition between three contestants: My Dang, Huy Quang, and Nha Trang. They will perform songs revolving around the theme of " Ancient Echoes ," under the evaluation of renowned singer Thai Chau, singer Dong Dao, and singer Ho Trung Dung .
In the program, contestant Huy Quang chose the song "Giọt lệ sầu" (Tears of Sorrow) by composer Lam Phương to impress the judges. He showed his meticulous preparation, hoping to bring a romantic performance to the " Listen to Me Sing" stage.

On stage, renowned singer Thai Chau choked up as he shared: "When I entered the profession, composer Lam Phuong noticed my voice and my musical taste. He wrote many songs specifically for me, which made me very happy. Lam Phuong has passed away, but today, listening to this song, I remember him. And it is thanks to his works that the younger generation is increasingly gaining favor with the audience."
Veteran singer Thai Chau didn't hesitate to express his fondness for the saxophone performance in the arrangement of " Tears of Sorrow ." He further commented on his junior's performance: "The instrumental interlude sounds romantic and touching. Huy Quang has a beautiful voice, but I think he's using too many choked-up notes. If the highlight appears too often, it won't be special anymore. Save it for a truly memorable moment for the audience to remember."
Meanwhile, singer Dong Dao praised Huy Quang's voice and said that the male singer possesses a lot of potential in the lyrical music genre. However, the female judge also reminded him that creativity needs to go hand in hand with subtlety to connect with the listener.
Dong Dao advised: "Your singing voice is very good. The only problem is that we don't have much experience in this genre yet. You need to carefully consider the emotional highlights. Just one or two really impactful moments are enough to make the audience remember you for a long time. The impact has to be solid so that listeners can't forget you."
Meanwhile, judge Ho Trung Dung was impressed with Huy Quang's natural performance: "I found his singing very comfortable and pleasant, like listening to a completed recording. However, when entering a competition, sometimes you have to accept more challenges to create moments that surprise the judges."
Singer Ho Trung Dung commented that Huy Quang's performance was quite consistent from beginning to end. He suggested that if there were more carefully planned climaxes, the performance would be even more effective. At the end of the competition, Huy Quang received two scores of 9.75 from judges Thai Chau and Dong Dao. Meanwhile, Ho Trung Dung's score will be announced after all contestants complete their performances on " Listen to Me Sing . "
