Warsaw [Poland], July 6: Political conflict erupted in Poland on Sunday over a suspected delivery of US-made Patriot air defence missiles to Ukraine in the spring, with opposition parties charging this occurred without the knowledge of parliament or the president.
The opposition national-conservative Law and Justice (PiS) party said Poland needed these missiles itself.
"These missiles are a key element in the defence of Polish airspace against ballistic missiles and other highly developed threats," former defence minister Mariusz Blaszczak, a leading PiS member of parliament, posted on X.
Blaszczak called on the government to clear up the matter immediately. In response, Deputy Defence Minister Cezary Tomczyk told the PAP news agency that the list of military assistance to Ukraine was classified.
The row has erupted after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine was running out of the crucial missiles, as the Iran war was leading to shortages.
