Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 22: PointAI, an AI company specialising in Simulation AI for commerce and retail, is showcasing its next-generation In-Store Virtual Trial Room and AI Fashion Advisor as the AI partner for Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited (ABFRL) at the Aditya Birla Fashion Excellence Day in Mumbai. The company is looking to bring the technology to ABFRL's brand stores in the near future, with the aim of making its retail environments more futuristic, interactive, and technology-led.
PointAI is already an AI technology partner and vendor to ABFRL, providing AI-powered services. As part of its ongoing engagement with the fashion and retail major, PointAI is demonstrating how its Simulation AI can bring virtual product discovery and personalized fashion assistance directly into physical stores.
Virtual Try-On in One Second
At the centre of the showcase is PointAI's In-Store Virtual Trial Room, which enables shoppers to virtually try on apparel in approximately one second. Users can explore different garments and create complete looks through a mix-and-match experience, allowing them to visualise combinations without physically trying on each individual garment.
The solution is powered by PointAI's Simulation AI technology, which combines its proprietary AI models with patented physics-based simulation to replicate how garments behave across different body shapes and sizes. The company says its technology has been trained across more than 200,000 body-type variations, enabling it to generate realistic garment visualisations in under one second.
The technology is designed to address a key limitation of conventional generative AI-based virtual try-on systems: the time and computational cost required to generate each visualisation. According to PointAI, commercially available GenAI-based try-on solutions can take approximately 30-60 seconds to generate an image, while PointAI's Simulation AI can deliver results in under one second at approximately 1/100th of the cost of GenAI alternatives.
Turning ABFRL Stores Into Futuristic Shopping Experiences
Through the planned deployment of PointAI's technology across ABFRL's brand stores, shoppers could experience a new model of fashion retail in which physical garments are complemented by digital visualisation and AI-powered assistance.
Alongside the virtual trial room, PointAI is showcasing an AI Fashion Advisor designed to help shoppers discover and style products based on their preferences, body profile, and requirements. Together, the two solutions are intended to create a more personalised and interactive in-store journey.
The proposed deployment would enable ABFRL brands to bring capabilities traditionally associated with digital commerce into physical retail spaces, giving shoppers the ability to virtually explore styles, experiment with combinations, and receive AI-assisted fashion recommendations.
Nitin Vats, Founder & CEO, PointAI Technologies, said, "The last decade of commerce was built for people who browsed. The next is built for people who delegate to agents and assistants who can provide a real showroom experience online."
Potential Rollout Across Stores Nationwide
The technology is also being evaluated for a potential wider rollout across ABFRL's retail network of nearly 3,000 stores across India. While a formal MOU for nationwide deployment is yet to be signed, PointAI and ABFRL are exploring the use of the technology across the group's extensive store network. A wider deployment could bring one-second virtual try-on and AI-powered fashion assistance to thousands of consumers nationwide.
From AI Partnership to AI-Powered Retail Infrastructure
PointAI's association with ABFRL forms part of its broader focus on applying Simulation AI to real-world commerce and retail environments. The company has developed solutions spanning virtual try-on, AI-powered catalogue generation, digital twins, 3D product visualisation, size and fit recommendations, and AI-powered shopping assistance.
The planned store deployment represents the next step in bringing these capabilities from digital commerce into physical retail. By enabling virtual trials and AI-powered fashion guidance at the point of purchase, PointAI aims to help fashion retailers create more engaging shopping environments while giving consumers greater freedom to explore products before making a purchase.
