Amman (Jordan), June 29: King Abdullah II of Jordan on Tuesday underlined the need to provide transparent explanations to the public about the gas leak incident in Aqaba port, said the Royal Hashemite Court in a statement.
The king made the remarks as he chaired a meeting at the National Centre for Security and Crisis Management, where he called for identifying the shortcomings and holding those responsible to account by law.
He also called for taking necessary precautions to avoid a repeat of such incidents in the future.
Jordanian Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh on Tuesday said that normalcy had been restored in Aqaba, the state-run Petra news agency reported.
During his inspection of the accident site, Khasawneh said that port operations were normal and there were no more risks from the chlorine gas concentrations.
Monday's gas leakage in Aqaba port claimed the lives of 13 people including five foreign nationals.
