Washington [US], March 22: Robert Mueller, the head of the special investigation into the Russia affair involving US President Donald Trump, has died. The former long-serving FBI director died at the age of 81, US broadcaster MS Now and the New York Times reported, citing his family. It emerged last year that Mueller had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.
As special counsel, Mueller had investigated possible Russian interference in the 2016 US election in favour of Trump from 2017 to 2019 - much to the president's annoyance. However, Mueller found no evidence that there had been secret collusion between the Trump campaign team and Russian representatives prior to the election.
