Washington [US], April 28: A survey released by CNN on April 28 shows that Americans have a significantly negative assessment of what US President Donald Trump has done in the first 100 days of his term, even though he had the highest approval rating at the time of his return to the White House.
A survey conducted by SSRS shows that Trump has an approval rating of 41 percent, the lowest for a U.S. president in his first 100 days in office, at least since the late President Dwight Eisenhower (1953-1961).
Approval ratings for the way Trump handles work have fallen by 4 percentage points since March and are 7 points lower than at the end of February. Only 22 percent of respondents said they were very supportive of the way he handled his work, while 45 percent did not.
On economic issues, his approval rating has fallen significantly since the beginning of March, when his plan to impose tariffs led to volatility in the stock market and concerns about soaring prices.
In terms of inflation, his approval rating fell by 9 points to 35 percent, while in terms of tariffs, it fell by 4 points to 35 percent. His approval rating for handling the economy fell five points to a career low of 39 percent.
On the foreign front, Trump won 39 percent of the vote, while 60 percent did not. The leader has been more open to Russia in his efforts to resolve the Ukraine crisis. In addition, he has terminated many foreign aid programs.
On immigration, which he once had a 7 percent approval rating for when he first termed, the latest survey showed that the rate has also declined. In general, there were 45% support, down 6 points compared to March.
Overall, Americans' confidence in Trump using the president's power responsibly (46 percent trust, down 8 points) and providing real leadership to the country (50 percent trust, down 9 points) has plummeted since December.
Trump has issued a series of executive orders to change government practices and policies that have led to numerous court cases.
The survey was conducted from April 17-24 and involved 1,678 adults in the United States, with a margin of error of 2.9%.
Trump has not commented directly on the survey. Writing on Truth Social, the president thanked many friends who wanted to accompany him to Michigan on April 29 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of his inauguration.
Besides, he said that this is a key week to work on the bill on tax cuts, border security measures, major military advances, deregulation, drastic spending reform and many other issues.
